This is part two in a four-part series about living at the Grand Castle Apartments. If you haven’t read part one, you can access it here.
It was actually fun at first.
Although my feelings surrounding the move were still complicated, I tried to make the best of it. Helping the situation was summer, my favorite season.
I enjoyed that first summer at the Grand Castle. The property has a manmade lake with a short path along the water’s edge. I liked this, and would frequently take my dog. It was secluded enough to catch glimpses of the wildlife—groundhogs, snakes and frogs were regular pals, and on rare occasions, I’d run into a deer.
Luckily, we had a good floor for the entire duration. When I think about my neighbors, I only have positive memories. My first connection at the Castle was Ann, who lived directly across the hall and will always be one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She moved in three months prior to us and resided with two adorable dogs. Our dog-walking schedules often intersected and when they did, we enjoyed walking together.
